"Bericht 25. Auflage des G.P Südkärnten am 03.06"

 

Der Slowene Marko KUMP (Adria Mobil) gewinnt im Sprint die 25. Auflage des G.P Südkärnten (UCI 1.2), vor dem Italiener Giuseppe DE MARIA (Team Idea) und dem Schweizer Olivier HOFSTETTER (Leopard Trek).
166 Fahrer von 24 Mannschaften nahmen bei ausgezeichneten Wetterbedingungen die 193,6km in Völkermarkt in Angriff. Von Beginn an war hohes Tempo im Feld angesagt. Das Rennen dominierte eine 8 Mann Spitzengruppe mit den Fahrern Dominik HRINKOW (Team Vorarlberg), Mario SCHOIBL (Tirol), Hans Jörg THALHAMMER (Rapso), Fabio NAPPA (Specialized Concept Store), Marco FRAPPORTI (Team IDEA), Jiri POLNICKY (Whirlpool), Alexandr PLIUSCHIN (Leopard Trek) und Ondrej PAVEK (Sparta Praha). Der Maximalvorsprung dieser Spitzengruppe betrug 6 Minuten. Zwei Runden vor Schluß konnten Thalhammer und auch Schoibl dem Tempo der Spitzengruppe nicht mehr folgen und fielen ins Hauptfeld zurück. Speziell die slowenische Mannschaft ADRIA Mobil und das russische Team ITERA-KATUSHA beteiligten sich intensiv an der Nachführarbeit. In der letzten Runde waren nur mehr FRAPORTI und PLIUSCHIN an der Spitze. Bei der 20 Kilometer-Marke betrug der Vorsprung des Duos noch 1min 30 sec. Zwölf Kilometer vor dem Ziel hieß es "Feld geschlossen" und das Rennen begann von Neuem. ADRIA Mobil bereitet schon 2 Kilometer vor dem Ziel für KUMP den Sprint vor, den er souverän für sich entscheiden konnte.
Bester österreicher wurde Josef BENETSEDER (Team Vorarlberg) als 6.
Riccardo ZOIDL (Wels Gourmetfein) verteidigte seine Gesamtführung in der Tchibo.Top.Radliga Einzelwertung, ebenfalls behielt Patrick KONRAD (Tirol) die U23 Gesamtwertung.
