2012.05.20: Gernot Auer gewinnt das 5. Tchibo Top.Rad.Liga-Rennen der Saison 2012, den GP Vorarlberg in Nenzing


Lange dominierten zwei Fahrer den GP Vorarlberg 2012 - Michael Schwaiger vom Verein Union Radland Kärnten Team "WSA Viperbike" und Hannes Kapeller vom Tirol Cycling Team - die beiden lagen beim heutigen

174 Kilometer langen Tchibo Top.Rad.Liga-Rennen in Nenzing von der zweiten bis zur siebenten von acht Runden in Führung, hatten einen Maximalvorsprung von fast sieben Minuten.

Nach 135 Kilometern war es zwar um die Führenden geschehen, doch Michael Schwaiger wurde zum aktivsten Fahrer des Tages gekürt!

In der letzten Runde kam es zu zahlreichen Attacken, doch einzig Gernot Auer's Vorstoß drei Kilometer vor dem Ziel blieb belohnt. Der 24-jährige Profi von WSA Viperbike, der im letzten

Jahr als einziger österreicher in Schwaz ein Liga-Rennen gewinnen konnte und der auch im letzten Jahr bei der Thüringen Rundfahrt die Sprintwertung für sich entschied, setzte sich klar

mit sieben Sekunden Vorsprung auf den Liga-Führenden Riccardo Zoidl von RC Gourmetfein Wels durch. Der slowenische Tirol-Legionär Blaz Furdi belegte Rang drei.

Gernot Auer schob sich damit im Einzel-Ranking der Tchibo Top.Rad.Liga 2012 wieder auf Platz 3 vor.

Auf Rang fünf kam Adam Homolka - mit dem 18. Platz von Hans-Jörg Leopold sicherte sich das Verein Union Radland Kärnten Team "WSA Viperbike" auch die Mannschaftswertung des Tages - damit liegt das Team "WSA Viperbike" in der Bundesliga-Gesamtwertung nur mehr 6 Punkte hinter dem zweitplatzierten Team Vorarlberg.


Der Sportliche Leiter des Teams "WSA Viperbike", Werner Faltheiner (selbt Gesamtsieger des öRV-Cups im Jahr 2000) hatte bei seiner Teambesprechung vor dem Rennen betont, dass die

Entscheidung des Rennens bei der Engstelle im Anstieg 3000m vor dem Ziel fallen wird - er sollte Recht behalten und sein Schützling Gernot Auer hat diese Taktik optimal umgesetzt!!


Die nächste und letzte Chance, wieder wichtige Cuppunkte für die Qualifikation zur österreich-Rundfahrt 2012 zu sammeln, gibt es am 03.06. beim GP Südkärnten (UCI 1.2) in Völkermarkt.
