MTB: Saisoneröffnungsrennen Duke of Trash in Gerasdorf bei Wien

Alexander Gehbauer gewinnt U 23 Kategorie, Robert wird hinter Christoph Soukup 2. bei der Elite

Gelungener Saisonauftakt für Robert und Alexander Gehbauer vom Radclub ARBö ASKö Klagenfurt.
Mit ihren neuen KTM Bikes ausgestattet konnten beide bei ihrem ersten MTB Wettkampf der Saison 2011 auf dem sehr kraft- und konditionsfordernden Kurs bestätigen, dass sie in den letzten Monaten das umfangreiche Vorbereitungsprogramm konsequent absolviert hatten.
Alexander konnte sich vom Start weg mit dem Olympia-Sechsten Christoph Soukup vorne absetzen und in Folge über 3/4 der Renndistanz einen sportlich fairen und interessanten Schlagabtausch mit Soukup liefern. Ein Defekt, dessen Behebung eine knappe Minute in Anspruch nahm, warf ihn aus dem Rennen um den Sieg in der Elite, als Zweiter im Ziel gewann er aber souverän die U 23 Wertung.
Bruder Robert kam als insgesamt Dritter nach Alexander ins Ziel und belegte damit den 2. Platz in der Kategorie Elite.

Am kommenden Sonntag, den 27. März starten sowohl Robert als auch Alexander beim UCI 1Wettkampf "Kamptal-Klassik" in der Nähe von Langenlois in Niederösterreich und werden dort auf hochkarätige internationale und nationale Konkurrenz treffen. Mit diesem Wettkampf beginnt bereits der Qualifikationszyklus für die EM und WM 2011.
