Mountainbike: Alexander wird auch in Kamnik seiner Favoritenrolle gerecht und Bruder Robert sichert sich nach Verletzungspause erste Weltranglistenpunkte
Über 70 Teilnehmer aus 10 Nationen nahmen diesen Wettkampf auf einer sehr schönen und technisch anspruchsvollen Strecke vor begeisterten Zuschauern in Angriff. Alexander Gehbauer, der EM 8. vom letzten Wochenende konnte von Anfang an das Geschehen an der Spitze kontrollieren und sich auch dann zu Rennmitte mit einer entschiedenen Attacke in einem Anstieg deutlich absetzen und schließlich ungefährdet vor Sergil Rysenko aus der Ukraine und Andras Parti (Ungarn) siegen.
Alexander zeigte sich im Ziel sehr glücklich: “Ich war diese Woche durch eine Verkühlung und Schnupfen beeinträchtigt und war von daher heute morgen ein wenig verunsichert. Aber dann lief es sehr gut im Wettkampf. Ich musste nie an meine Grenze gehen und konnte die tollen Singletrails auch wirklich genießen. Jetzt freue ich mich schon sehr auf die spezielle Vorbereitung auf die nächsten beiden Weltcups im Höhentrainingslager in Livigno . Aber zuerst muss ich morgen eine weitere Matura-Prüfung hinter mich bringen.”
Ein deutliches Lebenszeichen gab heute Alexanders Bruder Robert von sich. Mit Rang 14 klassierte er sich nicht nur im ersten Viertel des Klassements sondern bekam damit auch die ersten Weltranglistenpunkte nach seiner langen Verletzungspause gutgeschrieben. Vieles deutet nach dem deutlichen Leistungsanstieg in nur wenigen Wochen darauf hin, dass man sehr bald wieder noch deutlich weiter vorne im Klassement mit ihm rechnen wird können.
